HOLY WEEK AT PARKWAY

Join us for Holy Week at Parkway as we journey towards Easter and experience

the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus through worship, prayer and reflection!

MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE

Thursday, March 28th

7PM – Student Worship Center, Second Floor of Ministry Center

The name Maundy Thursday comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning commandment or mandate. When we gather on Maundy Thursday, we celebrate Jesus’ last meal with his friends and followers, their first sharing in Holy Communion, and Jesus' words to them: “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.” (John 13.34-35 CEB)

On Maundy Thursday, we will mark Jesus' new commandment by making and breaking bread together. Bread is often used as a symbol in Scripture – for life, for community, for the body of Jesus, and more. In exploring these meanings, working together to make bread, and then taking Holy Communion with that bread, this service will be a new attempt at getting closer to the meaning of Maundy Thursday.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE

Friday, March 29th

7PM – Worship Center

Good Friday marks Jesus' arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death.

Although it might feel strange to call a day of betrayal, violence, and death

'Good,' it is a truth for all followers of Jesus – that God can be and is at work

for good even in the worst of what people and the world can do.

This will be a service of hearing the story of Good Friday from

the words of Scripture, of prayers, and music.
