about Parkway Children's Day School

A licensed weekday ministry of Parkway United Methodist Church, offering preschool children opportunities to develop intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a Christian-based environment.  In this setting, PCDS preschoolers will discover the beauty of God's world and wonders of His love.  We employ a play-based program under the direction of qualified Christian educators.  The teachers plan activities that will meet  the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of it's preschoolers.

Curriculum

PCDS employs the Zoo Phonics curriculum.  Zoo Phonics is a nationally recognized curriculum and centers on the alphabet.  Since the alphabet is the foundation for all other learning, let's teach reading, spelling, writing, math, science, social studies, the arts, music, cooking, literature, and physical movement phonetically - alphabetically!  This way, children will learn the letters and letter sounds that unlock the doors to print.  At the same time, they will explore all other subjects through age appropriate activities and experiences.

Each class is structured in centers, which makes learning fun through experiencing rather than listening.  These experiences facilitate language, social, motor, and spiritual growth.  Themes are selected by our teachers, monthly, which provide opportunities for the growth of each child.  Each theme ties into a Christian message which is reinforced throughout the month.  Both academic and spiritual elements are explored, experienced and reinforced.

In addition to it's curriculum, PCDS has a variety of events and activities, as well as weekly outclasses that are:

  • Chapel
  • Computers (3s start this mid year)
  • Physical Education
  • Music
  • Spanish
